Mitigrate AS (www.mitigrate.com) is looking for a motivated and talented Operations Researcher to join our multinational team based in Oslo, Norway. We are building a software solution for the financial market to make smarter and more informed decisions to protect and reduce the climate risk exposure of property assets. As an Operations Researcher, you will leverage your knowledge of data analyses, predictive modelling and your experience writing scalable code to contribute to the development of our product. In addition, Mitigrate has received grants to work on applied geospatial problematics requiring strong multi-objective optimisation expertise.

Your responsibilities:
- Employ structured approaches to leveraging large datasets to uncover new insights from satellite data, climate models, geomorphological data etc
- Create machine learning solutions, including artificial intelligence, for a diverse set of problems such as water or heat management in urban areas
- Problem formulation, performing independent research and making recommendations
- Drive acquisition of new data sources as needed with governance on a license, terms of use, compliance, quality, and high availability

Who are you?
- You have 5+ years of professional data science experience
- You have applied expertise in operational research multi-objective optimisation problems and are familiar with genetic algorithms, ideally for locational analysis
- Your background is in Mathematics or alternatively in Data Science, AI, Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar
- You are familiar with GIS
- Having manipulated natural science data before will strengthen your application
- You know your way around Python (R or Scala are beneficial) and SQL-based databases
- Experience with libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Numpy, SciPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, Keras, Scikit-Learn
- You're able to summarise and communicate complex analyses via quality data visualisation, notebooks, markdown, and Shiny
- Besides your data science skills, you possess data engineering and/or software engineering skills to implement models
- Spatial and spatiotemporal modelling, Natural language processing, Stochastic modelling, and Graph databases experience highly desired
- Nice to have - knowledge of cloud-based infrastructure (Amazon AWS, Google Cloud Engine)
- You are ambitious, pragmatic and proactive, down to earth and you like to work in small teams
- You are fluent in English
