The Network and Traffic Optimization research team of the Mathematical and Algorithmic Sciences Lab, Huawei France Research Center, located in the Paris area, is looking for candidates for a permanent research position on Network Optimization. The research will focus on developing algorithms to drive research and innovation in the context of network optimization.

Major Responsibilities:

• Responsible for theory exploration, advanced algorithm design, analysis, and performance evaluation to meet challenging business requirements.
• Analyze business requirements and follow technology evolutions of IP/SDN technologies
• Collaborate with other units to ensure the successful exploitation of research outputs.
• Generation of intellectual property through the patenting of ideas. Propose and publish research in major research publications worldwide.
• Create and maintain strong collaborative associations with university-based researchers, other leading research bodies, business units and government agencies.

Required Degree: PhD English: Operational

Specific Requirements:

Candidates must have a strong background in Networking in the context of network planning, routing optimization, and resource allocation. In addition, the following skills and experiences are highly desirable:

• PhD Degree in Telecommunication or Computer Science or Applied Mathematics
• Good background on optimization (combinatorial optimization and convex optimization)
• Good knowledge on linear programming (e.g., b&b, pricing, decomposition methods)
• Good knowledge of graph theory and algorithms
• Some knowledge of network architectures and technologies (TCP/IP, QoS/QoE, SDN, NFV, etc.)
• Knowledge on optimization under uncertainty (e.g., robust, stochastic programming) is a plus
• Experience with optimization tools (CPLEX, Gurobi, Coin-OR, Xpress, Matlab)
• Good track record of publications in networking or optimization

Candidates must have the ability to conduct independent research while also contributing to team-oriented projects that often span across multiple international Huawei research sites.
