MISSION AND CONTENT OF THE JOB
As part of the Algorithm Management team, the Algorithm Analyst will work in tight cooperation with the Project department and other departments.
The Algorithm Analyst will intervene on any subject related to EPEX algorithms: specifications, development, tests, release management, impact assessment and internal algorithmic support to other departments. He/she shall ensure that EPEX algorithms are robust and highly reliable, while favoring new products and evolutions.
One of his/her main responsibility is to analyze market development scenarios and to assess their impact on the performance of EPEX algorithms (mostly the day-ahead market coupling algorithm).
EPEX SPOT being part of international multiparty projects, the Algorithm Analyst will work in close cooperation with his/her European counterparts.
The Algorithm Analyst will also perform prospective research and development activities on algorithm topics related to the future development of the European market coupling.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Competences in developing ad-hoc scripts (SQL, batch, Python) to manipulate input and output data and to extract Key Performance Indicators
Working knowledge of a programming language, ideally Python
Ability to write technical specifications
Computer skills in particular Word, Excel, Powerpoint
Analytical skills
Methodical, rigorous with a sense for details
Common sense, autonomy
Strong team spirit and good interpersonal skills
Communication skills (verbal and written)
Ability to work in a complex decision-making process and fast-changing environments
EDUCATION
Master degree with a specialization in applied mathematics/optimization or equivalent
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Fluent professional French and English (written and verbal) are required to be able to deal with technical subjects
EXPERIENCE
The candidate is expected to have a working experience of minimum 3 to 4 years in the field of numerical analysis/ optimization
Knowledge of electricity markets and/ or experience of working in a multicultural environment is a plus
