As part of the 16th IFAC Symposium on Information Control Problems in Manufacturing INCOM 2018 (Bergamo Italy) from June. 11th to 13th, 2018, we are organizing a special session on

Modeling and optimization techniques for energy-oriented manufacturing systems

World energy consumption has continued
increasing in recent years. As a major consumer, industrial activities use
about one third of the energy over the last few decades. Meanwhile, due to the
high-energy price and the high correlation between the energy and environment,
manufacturers are facing competing pressure from profit, long-term brand image,
and environmental policies. Thus, it is critical to understand the energy usage
and optimize the operation to achieve the best overall objective. The aim of
this session is to discuss models and techniques for energy optimization in the
manufacturing systems.

The topics of the session include, but are not limited to:

• Optimization techniques for production systems under energy considerations
• Intelligent systems for sustainable production
• Optimal Design of the facilities for energy production
• Optimization of energy flow
• Multi-sources energy scheduling
• Simulation based optimization for sustainable energy systems
• Stochastic optimization methods for energy management in large-scale systems
• Energy-mix optimization for industrial applications

Submission guidelines

All papers must be submitted via the IFAC Papercept platform at the following address: http://ifac.papercept.net/conferences/scripts/start.pl. All papers must be prepared in a two-column format in accordance with the IFAC manuscript style. Please use the official IFAC instructions and template to prepare your contribution as full-length draft paper and submit it on line by September 30, 2017.

Submission details are available on the symposium website. All submissions must be written in English. All papers that conform to submission guidelines will be peer-reviewed by IPC members. The corresponding author submits the paper online (pdf format) as an invited session paper. Submission as an invited paper requires the invited session code (9762f).
